Bassano del Grappa, overlooking the Brenta river, can be visited in a day or a weekend dedicated to history and relaxation. Here are the must-see stops through the city.
The old bridge of Bassano del Grappa "On the Bassano Bridge, there we would give our hand ..." he quoted an old song by the Alpini. Located at the point where the Brenta river narrows, Ponte Vecchio or degli Alpini has always been a symbol of the city of Bassano del Grappa. Its original structure was in wood, but due to flooding of the river and damage caused by wars it was destroyed and rebuilt several times. In 1567 the architect Palladio designed a new reconstruction, but the idea was rejected because the proposed design was too similar to the architecture of Roman bridges. It was therefore decided to keep the original one as a project, but bringing cutting-edge technical and structural solutions.

Marostica is a small jewel in the province of Vicenza located at the foot of the Asiago plateau. To see Marostica it takes just a few hours, the center is small and you can climb up to the upper castle to admire a beautiful view of the plain.
The symbol of the town is the chess game that takes place in even years by costumed characters: tradition has it that it is a re-enactment of the challenge to board that took place here, in 1454, for the hand of the beautiful Lionora, daughter of the Venetian podestà.
